Modern Home Florensia Guinovart / Cadaval & Solà-Morales

The project aims to retrieve the values of an old building in ruin existing railing on the ground, built of dry stone, traditional technique of the area and tectonic valuable. However, the inherent characteristics of this building (strength, minimal openings, dark mass) deny the spectacular environment where it is built: at the top of a mountain, overlooking two valleys that open in only two proposed fachadas.La is then build a series of interior slab supported by service boxes that act at the same time the structure and division of space, and having a continuity throughout the house, which can be interrupted eventually a turning point for turn it into two separate dwellings. But most of the project involved placing on the top floor a continuous cover formed by two planes at their intersection generates a first wound to the back of the mountain view from inside the housing, the cover will not come to rest on the wall Current stone, creating a second longitudinal stripes which allows views over the valley.
The definition section of the cover sets the character of the main space of the original structure cast.Preservation minimal intervention but by contrast, the proposal creates new and contemporary spaces adapted to new uses and respecting the historical envelope. In the basement of the house, and responding to a point of structural weakness of the dry stone wall, is forced to open a large window. This opening allows the views and natural light to a second living room and dining room on the first floor, the other rooms contained in the old surround the house breathe tectonics and the weight of traditional architecture, but are distributed and configured to respond architecture to new realities.-Source-
